- Soldiers may travel by bus or air.
- Soldiers who live in the immediate area and wish to have family members pick them up must coordinate with their 1SG or CDR.
- It is recommended that you purchase travel through Adventure Travel. All Ft. Sill soldiers must depart and return from the following airports ONLY and within the times indicated below:
-
- Dallas-Ft. Worth Intl or Love Field Airport: Departure after: 0500 hrs
- Latest return: Prior to 2000 hrs
- Oklahoma City Airport (OKC): Depart after: 0500 hrs
- Latest return: Prior to 2200 hrs
- Lawton Airport (LAW): Depart after: 0500 hrs
Note: Adventure Travel cannot fix problems with tickets purchased from another source (ie. internet, airlines, other agencies)
Soldiers are transported by group to and from the airports by airport shuttle.
The Army does NOT provide airport transportation free of charge for personal leave. So, these are special shuttle buses contracted by Adventure Travel only to pick up soldiers on Ft. Sill and transport them to the airports.
SHUTTLE COST:
If flight bought from Adventure Travel:
- To DFW or Love Field: $85 one way; $130 roundtrip
- To OKC: $55 one way; $85 roundtrip
- To Lawton: $10 one way; $15 roundtrip
If flight bought from a source other than Adventure Travel:
- To DFW or Love Field: $95 one way; $140 roundtrip
- To OKC: $65 one way; $95 roundtrip
- To Lawton: $15 one way; $20 roundtrip
For those traveling home by bus, a shuttle ticket is also required to get them to the bus station. The prices are the same as above.
Soldiers must not buy a scheduled bus ticket from other sources. IET soldiers are also prohibited from taking a taxi to and from any airport.
If there are weather delays across the country, airport shuttle service will continue until all soldiers have been returned to Ft. Sill.
If you make air reservations on your own, you must still purchase a ticket through Adventure Travel for the shuttle to the airports.
Travel arrangements for flights with airport shuttle can be made through Adventure Travel by calling 800-540-9030. Family members making arrangements, MUST know your training group and unit number when making the reservations!! (For example: A 1/19, or B 3/6ADA, or C 1/78)
Flights Home
Adventure Travel will research fares through all airlines and each airport option in order to find the best fare, which is set by the airlines.
- All airline tickets are non-refundable unless a soldier purchases a refundable ticket, which always prices considerably higher.
- All soldiers who choose to fly must purchase an airport shuttle ticket to get them to and from the airport.
- Baggage limits are 50 pounds per checked bag, and you may check 2.
*Fees may now apply for checked luggage, payable at the airport!! Carry-on limit is 1 bag and 40 pounds maximum.
Bus Home (No Flights)
All soldiers who choose to take a bus home must purchase a shuttle ticket to get them to the bus station.
Soldiers traveling by bus may depart from the Lawton bus station only. Dallas and Oklahoma City bus stations will not be serviced.
Bus tickets are non-refundable.
Payment Options
All tickets must be paid in full at the time of reservation.
Tickets may be paid by cash, debit card, or credit card.
If a family member calls in to make a reservation for the soldier, they will be required to fill out a credit card authorization form, which we can send to them by fax or email. The form is also on the Adventure Travel website.
The family member will need to fax back the form, along with a photocopy of the cardholders ID, or scan and email it back.
Family members may also go online to www.fortsilltravel.com to look at flight itineraries and hold a reservation on the soldier’s behalf. We will check the itinerary to make sure the dates, times, and airports are correct, and add in the shuttle before issuing the ticket.
The authorization form simply gives written permission to Adventure Travel to charge the card, since we do not have the card here to swipe or the cardholder here in person to sign for the charge.
If a family member makes travel arrangements through us prior to the date the soldier’s unit meets with our agents, we can still print out a copy of the itinerary to provide to the soldier.
